Re: Map Editor

Post by impossybull » 29 Apr 2019

CC of a PM I sent to iTerq:

I've been using the editor a lot recently and I've accumulated a list of bugs and suggestions. If you could review these, that would be great. Excellent work on it, by the way.

Bugs:
* Dusk and Noon lighting settings are swapped in editor vs in game.
* Camera is in wrong place and direction when exiting player mode (B key)
* Terrain editor tool, when at a very small brush size, does not adjust the terrain in the correct location.

Suggestions:
* Make NumEnter key work as Enter key also.
* Make roller tool work for non full voxels.
* Add health, ammo, red box, ladder, and lava entities.
* Ability to delete terrain entity.
* Ability to adjust the overall size of the terrain (X-Z widths), and have more than one on one map.
* Terrain editor: The current tools are unwieldy, it would be very beneficial to add:
* a tool to highlight a section of terrain.
* ability to adjust selected terrain height as a whole.
* ability to set selected terrain at a certain height.
* a tool to manually set the slope of highlighted terrain.
* a way to adjust the opacity radially on the tool, instead of only being able to change the entire tool.
* a way to select and adjust the height of an individual vertex of terrain.

You will be able to create texturepacks and new blocks on your own, so don't worry :D

Yes, hold down Ctrl to select all individual parts. But with voxels, no.

Suggestions: :D
Maybe add copy/paste tool (select point A and B, it copies all voxels in the rectangular prism).
Add block/entity select button (probably middle mouse click). When pressed, whatever block/entity is being looked at, will be selected by the user to be able to place. https://youtu.be/ELtUeL-uxk0?t=27
Add ability to tile non full voxels with the Brush tool.
